“The Nicoletta” 

Charles Nicolet was founded in Tramelan Switzerland in 1916. At the beginning, watches were produced under the brand name “Charles Nicolet Tramelan” before switching to “Nicolet Watch”. 

This watch is a chronograph which basically acted as a stopwatch before the time smartphones had been invented. On the outside of the dial you will see numbers from 1000 to 60 which is called a tachymeter scale. Back in the day, a tachymeter scale was used to measure how fast things were going. For example, lets say you were taking a car for a lap around a 1 mile track. When you start your lap you would start the chronograph function by pushing the button at 2 oclock. When you finished your lap you would then stop the chronograph using the same 2 oclock pusher. Whatever number the chronograph hand would fall on the tachymeter scale would represent your average speed for that lap. A useful feature needless to say!

YEAR: 1940-1950

CASE: The 38mm solid 18kt gold case has seen a light polish in the past. The lugs have retained great shape and the brushed finish on the outside of the lugs and midcase can still be appreciated. 

DIAL: The dial plays wonderfully in the light. As you can tell from pictures there are times it appears more pink and other times more salmon. In either case it provides a beautiful backdrop for the printed art deco style numerals and alternating applied yellow hour markers. The contrasting red also gives the dial some pop. 

MOVEMENT: Manually wound Landeron 50 chronograph movement. The movement runs and the chrono stop functions as it should. The watch winds, sets and runs. The service history is unknown. 

BRACELET:  Comes on a genuine leather strap.
