Description
A deep sense of satisfaction and gracefulness is manifest in the spectacular marble painting of Lord Mahaveer, the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism. Seated in a meditative posture the Lord is a symbol of gravity and accomplishment. A prince, Mahaveera gave up the lap of luxury and led a life of an ascetic for 12 years and ultimately found the Absolute Truth. When Mahavira was 30, he renounced his kingdom and family, gave up his worldly possessions. He had given up all worldly possessions including his clothes, and lived an extremely austere life. He showed exemplary control over his senses while enduring the penance. His courage and braveness earned him the epithet Mahavira. These were the golden years of his spiritual journey, at the end of which he achieved Keval Gyan. He was now a person of infinite harmony, knowledge and self-control.
